BeatKing (also known as Club Godzilla) was born Justin Riley on November 24, 1984. A native of Houston, Texas, he developed a love for music when as a child he started performing in church, playing the drums alongside his mother, who was the church pianist.
That love for music that was planted as a child never left him and as he started growing up he continued to develop his talent, eventually settling on rap, the currently dominant form of African American artistic expression.
After choosing the name BeatKing due to his talent both on and off the mic, he made his breakthrough in 2010 when he dropped the critically acclaimed album “Kings of the Club”, off of which the hit singles “Crush”, “Hammer”, and “Lil TJones” emerged.
A year later he dropped another album, Club God, off which the Billboard charting single ‘You Aint Bout That Life’ emerged.
‘Club God 2’ dropped in November 2012. BeatKing at that point had been catapulted to a point of cult hero, with a dedicated fanbase always on the lookout for his music.
And he satisfied their cravings, releasing mixtapes at a speed any rapper would be envious of. He dropped 5 mixtapes in 18 months between 2013 and 2014, notable ones including Club God 3, Gangsta Stripper Music, Astroworld, Twerk it for Vine, and Eat’n Everything.

Aside from his tremendous impact in Houston, where he was the soul of the city’s club scene, he had national level collaborations with artists including 2 Chainz, Moneybagg Yo, and Erica Banks.
Beatking is survived by his two daughters.
