A popular  Abuja-based crossdresser known as “Area Mama” has reportedly been murdered. The body was found dumped along the Katampe-Mabushi expressway.

According to the police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, detectives were dispatched to the scene following a distress call about a woman’s corpse. Upon arrival, they discovered that the deceased was a man dressed in women’s clothing, with no form of identification on him. He was immediately taken to Maitama District Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.

This tragic incident occurred shortly after “Area Mama,” posted a video online. It is believed that the victim was found in the same outfit seen in the video, lying lifeless on the roadside. The 33-year-old transgender woman’s body was covered in bruises, suggesting that she had been severely beaten before her death.

Commissioner of Police Bennett Igweh has ordered a thorough and discreet investigation to find out what happened and ensure justice is served. The police are now working to gather more information to solve this case.
