17-year-old Axel Muganwa Rudakubana has been identified as the heinous perpetrator of the Southport stabbings that killed three and injured eight other girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.

Rudakubana was born on August 7, 2006, in Cardiff, Wales, to parents of Rwandan heritage. His parents are Alphonse Rudakubana and Laetitia Muzayire.

The Rudakubana family moved to Southport in 2013 and reside in Banks, Lancashire.

Axel Rudakubana, who turns 18 in about a week, rose to notoriety after a brutal stabbing attack on young girls in Southport on Monday, July 29th. Authorities are yet to develop a motive.

The stabbing attack, which occurred at the venue of the dance class on Hart Street in Southport, left three girls dead – identified as Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven.

Armed with a kitchen knife, Rudakubana also injured eight other girls, five of them critically.

After days of his identity remaining anonymous, the judge in the case, Liverpool Crown Court Judge Menary KC, lifted the restrictions to allow his name and identity to be released.

This was due to viral reports naming completely unrelated people as the suspect.

The religion of the potential Southport stabbing suspect was a big deal as right-wingers on social media alleged the attacker was a Muslim. False reports claimed a Muslim had been arrested for the murders and riots even broke out in parts of the UK with mosques et al being attacked and clashes flaring up between rioters and law enforcement.

However, the religion of Axel Rudakubana puts that claim to bed as his family is Christian.

Judge Menary mentioned all these issues in his order lifting the restrictions on the attackers’ identity, referring to the ‘idiotic rioting’ in parts of the UK in response to the attack.

He said there exists a “genuine and proper public interest in the identity of the defendant” and releasing it would help in “assisting to dispel misinformation that exists, especially online”.

Axel is currently being held in youth detention. His case has been remanded until 25th October.

During his first court appearance, the Guardian reports that he kept his face hidden and refused to speak.
