Another Victory for Ghana: Angela Tabiri Named World’s Most Interesting Mathematician

A young Mathematician from Ghana, Angela Tabiri, known as the Maths Queen, has been named the World’s Most Interesting Mathematician. She won this title in The Big Internet Math-Off, a famous competition in the United States held from July 1 to July 24.

Tabiri’s love for math started in Accra, where she enjoyed solving problems from a young age. Despite facing challenges and stereotypes in the male-dominated field of mathematics, she remained determined and kept following her passion.

In 2014, she graduated from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) Ghana. Her quest for learning then took her to the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), where she received the Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowship in 2015. This helped her pursue a PhD in mathematics at the University of Glasgow.

Now, Angela Tabiri’s achievements are recognized worldwide, inspiring others and breaking barriers in mathematics.
