The Vice President of Ghana and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Bawumia has made another wild promise to Ghanaians.
According to him with the small amount of one Ghana cedis, the ordinary Ghanaian will be able to afford a new phone. Dr Bawumia explained that if voted into power, he will make sure phones can be bought and paid in instalment.
“We will make mobile phones accessible, my government will partner with phone manufacturers so that Ghanaians can afford them on credit and pay 1 or 2 cedis every month,” Dr Bawumia announced, highlighting the importance of digital inclusion in his administration’s agenda.
He emphasised that this initiative would significantly enhance access to information and communication technology, bridging the digital divide and empowering more Ghanaians to participate in the digital economy. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve the technological landscape and foster economic growth.
“Access to smartphones is no longer a luxury but a necessity. It opens up opportunities for education, business, and staying connected with loved ones. By making smartphones affordable, we are not only enhancing connectivity but also fostering an environment where every Ghanaian can thrive in the digital age,” Dr Bawumia added.
