Shane Sellner, a baseball player from Mankato, Minnesota has died in a stunning moment that has left a community in mourning.
Sellner died June 10th 2024 after suffering a cardiac arrest.
His family started a GoFundMe to raise cash to handle his medical bills and also to take care of his pregnant wife Amanda Sellner and their son, Isaac.
The sad death of Sellner has gotten the Mankato community to reflect on his life and legacy and he’s being praised for being a great husband, father and man.
Shane Sellner was born in 1996 to his parents Rick and Traci Sellner in Minnesota.
Sellner from an early age displayed an affinity for sports and started excelling in baseball in particular during his time at Mankato Loyola High School.
According to reports, Sellner was so good he was named an all-conference honoree an impressive four times and twice named to the all-city team.
In his senior year, he batted an extraordinary .529, with three home runs and 24 RBIs, setting a school record for batting average.

Sellner’s high school .400 batting average and eight home runs was a testament to his prowess.
Aside from baseball, the young Shane also excelled in football and hockey.
It was at Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) that Shane Sellner would make a name for himself.
Majoring in Sports Management, Sellner was a hit on the field.
As a sophomore, 42 games, batting .266 with seven doubles and five home runs. As a junior in 2017, he played in 47 games with a .297 batting average and led the team with 25 RBIs and had six multi-RBI games.
His senior year was explosive, starting 39 games at first base and bating .336. He recorded 10 doubles, two home runs, and 25 RBIs.
Sellner on and off the field, displaying leadership qualities in all he did.
He played for the Waterville Indians at the amateur level after leaving baseball behind to start his life.
Shane married his childhood sweetheart Amanda Sellner (née Broman) in September 2021 and had a son, Isaac (born Sep. 2022), as well as another on the way.
Sadly, he was not to see his 2nd child grow up after dying of a cardiac arrest in June 2024.
“We are devastated to have lost Shane Allan Sellner on June 10, 2024, at the age of 28. Shane went into cardiac arrest, and despite the best efforts of our medical community, his life could not be saved,” a GoFundMe started by his family read.
“We are setting up this GoFundMe to help support Amanda, Isaac, and Baby Sellner, as many people have asked how they can help. Baby Sellner is due in just two short weeks on June 24th,” it continued.
