The President’s convoy was involved in a ghastly accident that claimed one life over the weekend.
While returning to Accra from a visit to the hinterlands, the convoy got involved in a fatal crash around the Bunso-Akyem-Asafo stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The accident occurred when the convoy was crossed by a KIA Rhino truck, resulting in a collision that claimed the life of one of the President’s drivers, Mr Kwesi Atta, and left several members of his security detail seriously injured.
The injured were treated at the Suhum Government Hospital and then transported to UGMC in Accra for observation.
Reacting to the news, social media users left many morbid jokes about the President.
“Pls god take the old guy! He has served his time,” one netizen wrote.
Fortunately for the President, he took a military aircraft back to Accra and was spared the accident.
