Connor Wilcox, 17 years old, the son of Stamford Public Schools’ employee Tara Wilcox, has died in a fatal motorcycle crash.
The young Connor, a Stamford High School student, was riding his bike on Friday when he was involved in a fatal accident near the intersection of Lockwood Avenue and William Street around 9:13 p.m.
Connor was riding a 2020 Kawasaki motorcycle at the time of the crash when he crashed into a Toyota Corolla near the intersection after the 58-year-old driver of the Corolla tried to make a left turn.
Wilcox sustained serious injuries in the crash and was sent to Stamford Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
According to police, the driver of the Toyota Corolla stayed on the scene and helped with their investigation.
Who was Connor Wilcox and mum, Tara Wilcox?
Connor Wilcox was a student of Stamford High School and the apple of his parent’s eye.
Tara Wilcox, his mother, is a Stamford Public Schools employee who works at Strawberry Hill High.
She and his father, William, suffered the most heartwrenching of disasters when their son passed away at the very young age of 17.
William shared a photo of his son on Facebook and cried his heart out, writing: “To everyone that knows me . I have just experienced the worst night and day in my life. My son Connor lost his life on Friday night May17 to a car that turned left in front of him on Lockwood Ave in Stamford Ct. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION WHILE DRIVING. Would not wish this type of tragedy on anyone,”
As far as we can tell, Tara has yet to react to this tragedy.
According to her biography, Tara is a Librarian/Media Specialist with the Stamford Public Schools.
The District, via superintendent of Stamford Public Schools Tamu Lucero, released a statement addressing the tragedy.
“Everyone associated with Stamford Public Schools is devastated by this tragedy,” Lucero said in an emailed statement.
“Losing a child is every family’s worst nightmare, and we are heartbroken for this student’s parents, siblings, extended family, and friends.”
Lucero said the district’s crisis response team will visit the “affected schools” starting Monday to provide support to staff and students.
“On behalf of the Stamford Board of Education and everyone who works in Stamford Public Schools, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and promise to do everything we can to help our school community cope with this devastating news,” Lucero said.
Matt Forker, Stamford High School’s principal, said in a statement that the student’s death would have a “profound effect” on the school community in the coming days and weeks.
“When available, we will share information about any services that are planned to celebrate this young person’s life,” Forker said. “Our school community is strong, and I know that we will be able to support one another as we grieve this unimaginable loss together.”
