Richard Ackom Quayson, the Deputy Commissioner of the Commission on Administrative Justice and Human Rights, passed away.
A notification dated March 22, 2024, bearing the signature of Mr. Henry Ashley, the Commissioner’s Director of Human Resources and Administration, revealed the death, according to a report by the state news agency, GNA.
“It is with a heavy heart that we inform members of staff of the death of our Deputy Commissioner (APR), Richard Ackom Quayson, who passed away unexpectedly on the 21st of March 2024, after a short illness,” portions of the statement reads.
Prior to joining the Commission in 1993 as a senior legal officer, Mr. Ackom Quayson served as a legal officer for the Office of the Ombudsman, the organization that preceded CHRAJ, from 1987 to 1993.
He served as the Western and Central Regions’ regional director before being named Deputy Commissioner.
In August 2005, he was named Deputy Commissioner of the Commission, where he was in charge of public education, research, and the Commission’s anti-corruption mandate.
