Ghanaian Highlife Great George Darko Is Dead

Ghanaian highlife great George Darko has died, multiple reports have confirmed.

The pioneer of borga highlife died earlier today, Wednesday, March 20th 2024.

George Darko was a guitarist, vocalist, composer and songwriter who has been on the Ghanaian highlife music scene since the late 1960s.

He hit peak popularity in the 70s and 80s with massive hits such as Akoo te brofo, Odo Colour and Masem Nie.

He was rvered for his style of ‘borga highlife’ that became an enduring trend.

The late singer was also a Chief, having been enstooled as the Tufuhene of Akropong with the stool name, Nana Apem Darko I.
