A few years ago, Major Mahama was lynched at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region on May 29, 2017, while on duty. It was later narrated that the military officer had been mistaken for a robber.

Following the incident, over 50 suspects were rounded up, out of which 14 were eventually screened for prosecution.

Anyway, twelve accused have been condemned to life in prison by the court for their roles in Major Maxwell Mahama’s murder.

They were convicted guilty of both murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

William Baah, a former assemblyman for Denkyira Obuasi, is one of the twelve.

Bismark Donkor and Bismark Abanga, the other two, were found not guilty and were let go.

That came after the assemblyman and several others, including Bernard Asamoah, Akwasi Baah, Kwame Tuffour, Joseph Appiah Kubi, Kofi Nyarko, Michael Anim, Emmanuel Badu, John Bosie, Akwasi Baah, Charles Kwaning, and Kwadwo Anim, were unanimously found guilty by the panel of seven members.

The jury has been dismissed, and Justice Mariama Owusu will now sentence the guilty men and women.
