Ghanaian lawyer, Maurice Ampaw has rubbished the summons by the Kumasi Traditional Council for him to appear at Manhyia Monday, January 29th 2024.
Ampaw, alongside his boss, NPP politician Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, are both accused of disrespecting the Ashanti monarch, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Chairman Wontumi, in a closed door meeting is reported to have bragged about having more power in the Ashanti Region than the KIng.
And Ampaw, in defending his boss, also said Wontumi is head of a political kingdom in the Ashanti Region but Otumfuo doens’t have a political kingdom.
Aggrieved chiefs who make up the Kumasi Traditional Council have summoned both Wontumi and Ampaw to Manhyia to explain themselves.
However, the lawyer said he will never step foot in Manhyia because they have no authority over him.
According to him, the constitution of Ghana reigns supreme and is above any chief hence he cannot be forced to appear before the chiefs.
