A Ghanaian man identified as Otu has dragged his girlfriend Mercy to court after she refused to marry him after he funded her education to become a banker.
According to reports, Otu is demanding Ghc 350,000 in damages to recoup what he spent on her throughout the years to finance her education.
According to Otu, he met his Jezebel in Kumasi when he was a nobody and proposed marriage to her which she accepted.
After they started their relationship he financed her education, relocating to Tema at the suggestion of her mother.
In Tema, Mercy pursued an HND program at Accra Technical University and later a degree at KNUST, all funded by Otu.
The good-hearted Otu claims to have even supported Mercy’s younger brother and facilitated accommodation for her mother.
The situation took an unexpected turn when Mercy, after securing employment at ABSA Bank, informed Otu of her decision to end the relationship.
Feeling betrayed and seeking compensation for his investments, Otu has taken the matter to the Kumasi Circuit Court, demanding Ghc 350,000.
The case is currently pending, with proceedings adjourned until February 20, 2024.
