Freedom Jacob Caesar is set to find himself in some hot soup as he’s been accused of evading taxes to the tune of Ghc 7m.
According to reporting from Asaase Radio and the Ghanaian Times, over the past 10 years, Cheddar, as he’s commonly known, has incurred penalties for failing to pay his taxes in 6 good years!
He allegedly failed to pay his taxes in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2021 and 2022.
In this period, the only time he paid his taxes was for the four year period between 2017 and 2020.
Documents obtained by Asaase Radio and the Ghanaian Times show Cheddar owing Ghc 7m in unpaid taxes with the following breakdown.
Between 2013 and 2016, Cheddar incurred penalties of GHC15,222, GHC14,492, GHC13,760, and GHC6,526 for neglecting to file personal income tax returns.
The documents highlight staggering amounts of tax evasion, totaling GHC2,088,228 for 2021 and GHC5,096,536 for 2022.
The documents, released by the government-friendly Asaase Radio, definitely point towards another move from the powers that be to handicap Cheddar before his Presidential ambitions take shape.
Nevertheless, social media is already slamming him, with some funny comments in reaction to the news.
“You dey owe you wan higher position. More to come. Them go investigate him,” one netizen wrote.
