AKtiv Life Foundation Provides Free Health Screening to Akim Awisa Residents

AKtive Life Foundation transported 25 healthcare professionals both from Ghana and the Diaspora for a health outreach to Akyem Awisa in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The AKtive Life Foundation team consisted of Ophthalmologists, Pharmacists, Nurses, Midwives, Nutritionists, Dietitians and Optometrists.

The philanthropic exercise was held Thursday, December 28th 2023 at Akyem Awisa, a suburb of Akim Oda in the Eastern Region.

The selected 25 health professionals, culled from both Ghana and the Diaspora, provided screening services including Diabetes, Hypertension, Cholestrol, Malaria, Eye screening etc.

Also available were free medications, free eye treatments and free eye surgery (for those who needed it).

Derrick Abaitey, founder of the AKtiv Foundation, also revealed HIV Tests, Eye Screening for Cataracts and glaucoma, future eye surgeries, supply of BP and Antimalarials, and screening and cleaning of teeth were other services they offered.

Prior to the event, the AKtiv Life Foundation received a donation of some packs of Awake purified drinking water to help towards the screening.

AKtiv Life Foundation provides community healthcare through a diasporan network of professionals.

Its mission is helping to recognise diseases such as Diabetes, Hypertension, Malaria and Preventative Measures that helps to delay onset of diseases.

According to the AKtiv Life Foundation website, “the early diagnosis of most patients suffering from both type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular conditions, such as hypertension, is often lacking due to the absence of significant signs or symptoms of these diseases,” they write.

The website adds: “Our charitable initiatives aim to postpone the emergence of these conditions. Moreover, we strive to recognize individuals at a heightened risk of developing these chronic ailments and offer them suitable guidance and referrals,”
