Mr. Onoh Chukwuka Richard, a young man from Abia State, has taken his life after losing 2.5 million naira on a bet he had placed over the weekend.
According to information obtained by DAILY POST, he took snipper and was taken to a hospital where a duty physician pronounced him deceased.
Richard’s engaging social media posts made him extremely well-liked in Abia State and abroad prior to his untimely demise.
The Arochukwu Local Government Area native who committed suicide wrote, “Today is my last day on earth,” in a post on his social media profile just before he passed away. Thanking a few of his well-known pals, he said, “I’m going to meet my maker.”

Richard allegedly berated using 2.5 million naira to place a bet in another Facebook discussion. He also claimed to have borrowed 1.2 million of the lost funds from someone and expressed concern about his ability to pay back the debt.
He continued to bemoan on Facebook that his lack of employment had made him a gambler.
Richard warned a friend he was talking to that he might not be alive when the reader saw the discussion.
The suicide victim went on to say that the only way he could avoid the humiliation of confronting his creditors was to end his own life.
However, the young man’s friends and supporters have been shocked by his death, with the majority of them believing that he made the wrong choice in ending his own life.
It was unknown at the time of this article if the family had made an official statement or reported the incident to the police for further inquiry.
A communication regarding the situation was addressed to ASP Maureen Chinaka, the spokesman for the Abia State Police Command, but she has not responded yet.
