Recently, Legendary Ghanaian musician Gyedu Blay Ambolley heaped praises on the Afro-pop singer-songwriter, commending her for the remarkable strides she has taken in projecting Ghana’s music and culture onto the global stage.
Ambolley, a trailblazer in the Highlife genre, spoke highly of Wiyaala’s unique sound and her dedication to preserving Ghana’s musical heritage while infusing it with a contemporary twist.
Speaking in a recent interview on Accra-based Kingdom FM, the veteran emphasised that Wiyaala’s approach to music reflects a deep understanding of Ghana’s diverse musical traditions and the importance of maintaining a strong connection to one’s roots and praised her for staying true to her identity while fearlessly pushing the boundaries of creativity.
“I like the way she is doing her thing because she has been herself and she only has to improve on her music. But her concept and the way she portrays herself is a clear indication that she is on the right path, he said.
Wiyaala also known as the Lioness of Africa is known for her powerful vocals and energetic performances.
She has been steadily gaining international recognition with her fusion of traditional African rhythms and modern influences.
