Despite crowning himself dancehall king many years ago, Shatta Wale is now railing against the practice of Ghanaian artists crowning themselves with unnecessary titles.
In an interview with Giovani Caleb, Wale said Ghanaian artists concentrate on useless monikers giving themselves status instead of going out there to earn that status via good music.
Wale drew a comparison with Nigerian music as he roasted his fellow A-listers such as Sarkodie and Stonebwoy.
He said Nigerian musicians are uninterested in competition and work hard at their craft to be the best they can be.
Meanwhile, in Ghana, Wale claimed, our artists spend all their time fighting themselves, which manifests in everyone trying to outdo the other by naming themselves kings and gads.
“A king from where?” he exclaimed.
Wale said Nigerians focus on doing good music but Ghanaians focus on competition, which makes them lose their way.
Ironically, almost Wale is saying explicitly applies to himself. Who starts needless beef (competition) more than Wale in Africa?
