Controversial US-Based Ghanaian broadcast Journalist, Kevin Taylor has advised the inhabitants of the Volta Region to not allow the NPP Government to manipulate them into destroying their water bodies as they did in the Ashanti Region.
According to Kevin Taylor, people from the Ashanti Region and other regions have allowed the NPP government to use Galamsey to ruin their water bodies.
In the Western Region, the main water bodies that have been polluted include the River Pra, Daboase, and River Ankobra. The main water body in the Eastern Region that has been polluted is Birim.

Kevin Taylor further stated that the Volta Region is the only region in Ghana with clean and safe rivers. So it will be an idiotic move on their side to allow themselves to be manipulated with money at the cost of their health and source of livelihood.
A few years ago, the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor disclosed that the government will soon enhance the exploration, prospecting, and recognizance of minerals particularly gold in the Volta and Oti Regions.
The Minister disclosed this during a meeting with the Volta Regional House of Chiefs as part of a tour of the region. According to Samuel Jinapor, currently, Ghana has established 13 regions that have gold deposits in commercial quantities out of the 16 regions.
