No For Better for Worse? – Wife Of American Serial Killer Files for Divorce After His Arrest

The wife of an American man arrested by police recently as a long sought-after serial killer has filed for divorce.

Lawyers for Asa Ellerup, the wife of Rex Heuermann, the so-called Gilgo beach murderer, announced that she’s filed for divorce from the suspected serial killer.

Heuermann was taken into police custody last week and charged with the killings of Melissa Barthelemy, 24, Megan Waterman, 22, and Amber Lynn Costello, 27—three women whose remains were discovered in 2010 along a remote highway near Gilgo Beach, N.Y.

He has long been sought by authorities and had gone into legend as one of the most high-profile uncaptured serial killers currently.

However, all that chained when police were able to tie him to three murders using DNA evidence.

On July 14, Heuermann pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder.

His arrest isn’t the only legal issue he’s currently facing as his wife also filed for divorce.

Robert Macedonio, the lawyer for Heuermann’s wife Asa Ellerup, filed for divorce from the 59-year-old in the Suffolk County Supreme Court on July 19th.
