Sowutuom Youth Lynch Alleged Gay After Luring Him To Secluded Area Through Dating App

Whilst Sam George’s LGBTQ bill is making its way through parliament, some impatient Ghanaians are already taking the law into their own hands.

A video going viral on social media shows the moment some young people in Sowutuom attacked an alleged gay guy simply on the suspicion of being gay.

According to them, they lured him to the area via a dating app and he arrived with the intention of having s*x with another man.

Once he arrived, he was attacked and beaten by the youth in the area. Passersby who saw his predicament also refused to help.

Twitter blogger, Sika Official provided details of the incident, writing: “In Sowutuom, Accra, an incident unfolded a few days ago where an unknown group attacked an individual from the LGBTQ+ community who reportedly was lured through a dating app. The incident occurred in front of the Race course medical center. Shockingly, passers-by chose to ignore and not provide assistance based on the claim that the victim was gay and came there purposely to have sex with them,”

This follows a trend of extrajudicial attacks often perpetrated on LGBT Ghanaians, often on very flimsy evidence.

Regrettably, things would get even worse once Sam George’s bill is passed as thugs such as these would feel more emboldened.
