Sadly, a young Ghanaian woman who had been married for two weeks passed away. The woman was reportedly on her way back to work when the collision involving the bus she was riding occurred. In response to the news, internet users have sent their sympathies to the widower’s family and the grieving person.
The news that a newlywed had perished in a horrific accident has left many Ghanaians in a state of grief. Portia Owusu Asante, who was killed, was married on July 2, 2023, and she passed away on July 17, 2023, as she was returning to work after her honeymoon.

A report from Ghanaian blogger Kobby Kyei, who attended the accident scene, was posted on his Twitter account. On July 17, he tweeted, “A tragic accident involving a Zhong Tong Bus with registration number GW 5546-23, carrying passengers from Kumasi to the Volta region, occurred near Sekyere Kankan in the early hours of today.”
According to reports, Portia was one of the three people killed in the collision. Many people are devastated by a TikTok video that depicts the late Portia dancing with her husband on the day of their wedding.
