On Sunday, July 16, 2023, a newborn baby girl was discovered abandoned at the front door of the resident pastor of the New Covenant Apostolic Church in Ahodwo, Kpong, Eastern Region.
A message from the mother declaring her intention to kill herself and pleading for mercy was found next to the infant.
The Assemblyman for the Kpong Ahodwo Electoral Area, Hon. Raymond Gborson told Ghanaweb in an interview that he received a call before daybreak from the resident pastor concerning the baby.
“This morning at around 5:30am, the resident pastor of apostolic church called me that he woke up this morning and found a baby wrapped in a cloth, placed at his doorstep, he’s living on a story-building and placed it one step into his room so that when he opens the door he will see the baby. He called me as soon as he saw the baby and I rushed over to see it for myself”. He narrated.
The whereabouts of the child’s mother is unknown and there is an ongoing search for her.
