Jay-Z’s Mother Gloria and Newlywed Wife Make Debut Red Carpet Appearance – Photos

Jay-Z‘s mother, Gloria Carter and her newlywed wife Roxanne Wilshere made their red carpet debut as a married couple Friday night.

The duo attended the Shawn Carter (Jay-Z) Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Black Tie Gala on the evening of Friday, July 14th 2023

The pair got married earlier this month in the Tribeca neighborhood in New York City.

JAY-Z and Beyoncé both attended the event, alongside other celebrity guests like Kelly Rowland, Tina Knowles (Beyonce’s mom), Tyler Perry and Robin Roberts.

Indeed, Tina’s failure to show up at the wedding alongside her husband fuelled rumours they had split!

Jay-Z’s mother came out as a lesbian after four kids and many years in the closet! Jay addressed it in his single ‘Smile’ where he rapped about his mom: “Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian / Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian / Had to hide in the closet, so she medicate / Society shame and the pain was too much to take,” 

“Cried tears of joy when you fell in love / Don’t matter to me if it’s a him or her / I just wanna see you smile through all the hate / Marie Antoinette, baby, let ’em eat cake.”
