Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia‘s inter-faith outreach has been acknowledged as the Sabbath Faith Salvation Church of Ghana has bestowed him with the honorific ‘Unifier of Ghana’.

The Suhum Circuit of the Church in the Eastern Region honoured the Veep for how his efforts have contributed towards building a peaceful nation.

Bawumia was presented with a citation and a plaque with portions of the citation reading: “…as Vice President you have demonstrated in a million ways that you are a bridge for all walks of Life, you are a living legend of UNITY, you are at home in every Christian community just like your familiar mosques all in Ghana,” portions of the inscription on the citation read.

It added: “We highly commend you and urge you not to relax on your oars but to continue to leave no stone unturned in your dime to build a united Ghana, free under the banner of Development of Freedom. We salute you and give you award as the UNIFIER OF GHANA,”

Senior NPP politician and respected legal practitioner, Captain (rtd) Nkrabea Effah Dartey, presented the honour on the church’s behalf to former Member of Parliament (MP) for Suhum, Frederic Opare-Ansah, who represented the Vice President.

Opare-Ansah, on behalf of the Veep, thanked the church for the honour and their assistance via prayers for the continuous peace and security Ghanaians continue to enjoy.

“Let’s not take the peace we have here for granted,” he urged, adding that “the only country where Christians and Muslims gather for religious purposes is Ghana.”

Opare-Ansah donated Ghc 10,000 to the church’s project on behalf of Dr Bawumia.

Despite being a practising Muslim, Vice President Bawumia has carved a niche in the political space as being a unique unifier, appearing regularly at Christian events throughout his tenure in office.

This posture has won him praise from religious leaders, the general public and other leading civil society figures.
