Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has recently taken berated Ghanaians for downloading songs online, causing musicians to lose millions in streaming income.
In an interview with Nana Romeo of Accra FM, Wendy Shay stated that she, like many Ghanaian musicians, needs to receive streaming income for their songs due to online downloads.

She also said the high cost of internet data often coerces music lovers into downloading music illegally.
“We need to educate ghanaians against illegal downloads,” She said. “Unlike countries in Eastern Africa, the cost of data in Ghana is quite expensive and often discourages people from streaming songs online.”

Wendy Shay’s statements were met with support and criticism.
Some agreed with her and others claimed she does not make good enough songs to feel so entitled.
Regardless, Wendy Shay wants her fans to support her music by streaming it legally and not stealing it online.
