Set The Trend and Create a Name For Your Music Style – Reggie Rockstone Advices Black Sherif To Be Like Him

Ghanaian rap icon Reggie Rockstone has advised sensational musician Black Sherif to create a name for his music style just like he did with hiplife in the 90s.

The pioneer of the Hiplife music genre in Ghana described Black Sherif as a unique artist and advised him to set the trend instead of staying in the box.

“When you listen to my son Black Sherif, he doesn’t do Afrobeats, the music is also not exactly Hiplife, he is moving in his lane.”

“You can see how the world is receiving him. So, I’ve always said this, I don’t chase trends, I create trends. When others are making music in this direction, I’m going in the other direction,” Reggie Rockstone said on Accra FM.

Reggie Rockstone told Nana Romeo that Black Sherif has everything going right for him and he should take advantage of that.

Suggesting names the young artiste can call his style, Reggie Rockstone mentioned: “Vibe-Sherif, Sherif-Vibe, Sherif-Sound, Sound-Sherif, Sound-of-Sherif,” and even “Villain-Sounds, the namesake of his album” adding that Sherif should avoid adding ‘life’ to his name as it has been overused.

“So many ways but the sound is original. I don’t know who is making the music but he seems to use a very unique [production style] – and even his cadence,” he thought.

The hiplife grandpa also told the budding talent to document everything he does after naming his sound so no one comes to claim ownership in the future.

“When you finally do it, give the evidence so 30 years later, after your hard work, no one will come and claim you are not the originator. Have you heard?”
