The British Conservative Party has chosen Liz Truss, MP, as the next leader of the party to replace embattled Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.
Liz Truss replaces Johnson as British Prime Minister and becomes the next occupant of No.10 Downing Street.
The party held its vote for its next leader after weeks of an acrimonious campaign between Foreign Secretary Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak.

Truss won the leadership race Monday, September 5th 2022, polling 81,326 votes to former Finance Minister Sunak’s 60,399.
“I will deliver a bold plan to cut taxes and grow our economy,” Truss said after the result was announced. “I will deliver on the energy crisis, dealing with people’s energy bills, but also dealing with the long-term issues we have on energy supply.”
Liz Truss takes over after Boris Johnson’s disastrous three-year reign came to an end amidst scandal.

Johnson will travel to Scotland to meet Queen Elizabeth on Tuesday, September 6th to officially tender his resignation. Truss will follow him and be asked to form a government by the monarch.
The new PM ruled out an early election as she declared she will win a great Conservative victory in 2024.
She’s the 4th conservative PM since the party won elections in 2015 – followed by a series of disastrous reigns for David Cameron, Theresa May, and Boris Johnson.
