Rapper Kanye West has gotten a break after prosecutors decided not to charge him for allegedly punching a fan who asked for an autograph.
The LA City Attorney’s office announced Tuesday, August 23rd 2022 that they’re not going forward with charging the rapper for the incident which occurred in January.
“Regarding the incident involving Kanye West that took place January 13, 2022, after a thorough and careful review of all the evidence, our office is declining to file based on no reasonable likelihood of conviction.” a spokesperson told Page Six.

Kanye faced six months in jail over misdemeanour battery if he had been convicted.
According to reports, the rapper was alleged to have punched a fan back in January for pestering him too many times for an autograph.
Video of the aftermath of the incident surfaced at the time, showing Kanye standing over a man lying prostrate on the floor.
West was clearly agitated and was yelling at a female staffer, “get away from me” whilst she tried to calm him down.
After video of the incident went viral, Kanye West denied reports that he had punched the man.

His attorneys revealed the gentleman had been following Kanye around everywhere to try and get an autograph.
Kanye’s lawyer claims he was an ‘autograph broker’.
Reacting to the City’s decision not to charge his client, the rapper’s lawyer, Michael Goldstein said: “We are satisfied with this resolution as it recognizes my client did nothing wrong.”
“Video and photographs provided to the City Attorney’s office confirmed that this particular individual followed my client to three different locations over a short period of time and ultimately waited for him at his hotel where he approached my client at 3 a.m. [local time]. He once again entered my client’s personal space, which was unacceptable,”
