Nike Air Force Releases New Sneakers Named ‘Little Accra’ To Celebrate Ghanaian Culture – Photos

As part of the 40th-Anniversary celebrations of Air Force 1, Nike has released the AF1 Low “Little Accra,” to celebrate the thriving Ghanaian community in New York City.

The multi-billion dollar company partnered with Afrochella co-founder and CEO, Abdul Karim Abdullah to release the sneaker.

Little Accra’ arrived in a mix of “Red/Sail/Burgundy/Orange/Yellow” across premium leather and nylon uppers. Ornate gold tapestry patterns decorate the laterals and rears, a nod to a specific neighborhood of the Boogie Down borough in the Bronx, and stylized “Little Accra” text adorns the black velvet heel tab.

Details include brass lace deubrés that display mismatched Ghanian symbols, and Anniversary Edition text appears on the tongue tab.

Lace tips are found in Gold, insoles feature mismatched “Sharing Stories” and “Building Communities” messages, and crisp white midsoles and sail outsoles complete the design.

Coming in multiple size options, fans can get the adult size for $140, while big kids and little kids versions will be available for $95 and $70, respectively.

Nike’s SNKRS app and a few other selected stores will offer these footwear pieces.

Nike mentioned how it incorporated numerous facets of the New York-based Ghanaian community in the upcoming shoe design:

“A mix of real and synthetic leather, satin overlays, and premium embroidery combine to celebrate the people and culture of New York City’s Ghanaian community. While embroidered backtabs honor Little Accra, a heavily Ghanaian enclave in the Bronx, metallic dubraes and graphics on the insoles encourage sharing stories and building community.”
