‘The Court Made Errors’ – Amber Heard Not Done Fighting As She Officially Appeals Johnny Depp Decision

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were occupants of the courtroom for months until Depp was declared victorious.

A seven-person jury returned their judgement on June 1, primarily siding with Depp, 59, and giving him more than $10 million in damages.

They ruled that Heard, 36, defamed the actor in a 2018 op-ed she penned about surviving abuse, without mentioning him by name.

Additionally, the jury awarded her $2 million in damages on one of her three defamation countersuit claims.

Heard made her intention to challenge the Virginia judgment public on Thursday morning when her attorneys filed a notice of appeal in the Circuit Court of Fairfax County.

“We believe the court made errors that prevented a just and fair verdict consistent with the First Amendment. We are therefore appealing the verdict,” a spokesperson for Heard said in a statement. “While we realise today’s filing will ignite the Twitter bonfires, there are steps we need to take to ensure both fairness and justice.”

The court ruled that there was no evidence of jury dishonesty and that Heard’s team had weeks to come out about the matter rather than waiting until after an adverse result.

The court stated that there was no proof of dishonesty among the jury members and that Heard’s team had weeks to speak out about the issue rather than waiting until after an unfavourable decision.
