Sad As 52-Year-Old Ghanaian Woman, Monica Akua Stabbed To Death By Her Husband In New York

In extremely sad and shocking news, a Ghanaian woman, Monica Akua, has been stabbed to death by her own husband in the Bronx, New York.

Monica died Thursday, July 14th, after being found stabbed in her apartment in Bedford Park.

Police received a 911 call around 10am Thursday and arrived at the apartment to find the victim with multiple stab wounds.

She had apparently got into a fracas with her 57-year-old Ghanaian husband, Anthony Ezruah.

First responders rushed her to St Barnabas Medical Centre after police found her but she could not be saved.

Police arrested her husband on charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

Reports in the New York press said a neighbour described the couple as very friendly – they had apparently been married for over 22 years.

“They never gave anyone any problems,” the neighbour was quoted to have said.

Unconfirmed reports claim Akua was a member of the Church of Pentecost.

This case bears stunning similarities to what happened a few years ago – when a Ghanaian pastor in the U.S also murdered his partner.
