Popular Hong Kong screenwriter and director Alex Law passed away at the age of 69 in a hospital on Saturday.
The cause of death of the Echoes Of The Rainbow screenwriter and director was not given but a statement from the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild released a statement confirmed his passing.

Before his passing, Law served as the vice-chairman for the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild.
He often worked with his longtime partner Mabel Cheung Yuen-ting, whom he met while studying at New York University.
The couple wrote and directed most films together, including the “Migration Trilogy” of films Illegal Immigrant (1985), An Autumn’s Tale(1987), and Eight Tales Of Gold (1989); which he wrote and she directed.

They both worked on the 2010 blockbuster movie Echoes of The Rainbow with Cheung as the producer.
The movie went on to win the Crystal Bear Best Film prize in the Generation Kplus section of the Berlin Film Festival as well as Best Screenplay at the Hong Kong Film Awards.
