Singer Becca has blamed her mother’s death for the delay of her promised new album as anxious fans quiz her over the hold-up.
Becca told Becky of Joy News that many changes in her life contributed to her album being delayed, including her mother’s passing.
The singer added that her desire to be a perfectionist and make everything as perfect as possible before release has also contributed to the delay.
“It’s almost complete but everybody knows I’m a perfectionist so I try to make it as perfect for myself and also, especially for my fans. I’m certain this year I will release a song ahead of the album,” she said.
Born Rebecca Acheampong, the singer popularly known as Becca promised the release of an all-female album from her stable in 2020.
She told CNN at the time: “I’m working on my last album. Yes, my very, very last album. This last album is an all-female album…It’s gonna be a strong album. I’m telling you,”
Despite the promise, the album, set to be a follow-up to 2017’s Unveiling, has still not arrived.
Becca lost her mum, Julie Yiadom-Oti, at the start of 2021, following a short illness.
The singer had a complicated relationship with her mum, but her comments reveal her passing affected her more than people realised.
