Shatta Wale Convicted For Faking His Death – Faces 3 Months In Prison

Shatta Wale has been convicted by an Accra Circuit Court over faking his death, fined, and in default faces a 3-month jail term.

The self-acclaimed dancehall king, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, pleaded guilty to publication of false news in court today, June 29th, 2022.

He rescinded his earlier plea of non-guilty to guilty and was convicted on his own plea.

Wale was fined Ghc 2,000 and in default, would spend three months behind bars.

Shatta Wale caused a massive social media stir in October last year after faking an attack on him.

Wale had associates put out fake news that he had been shot by gunmen and was in the hospital receiving treatment.

His personal assistant, Nana Dhorpe, blasted the information over social media and caused a massive stir.

The musician then came out to reveal it was all a prank to raise awareness because a doom prophet had prophesied he will be shot on that day.

Wale later went into hiding after the police mounted a search for him for causing fear and panic.

He was smoked out his hideout and arrested after a few days laying low.

Wale was charged with the publication of false news and causing fear and panic.

He initially pleaded not guilty, but changed his plea at today’s court date, leading to the final ruling.
