George R.R Martin, author of A Song of Ice and Fire, the source books for HBO’s Game of Thrones, has revealed a new show focusing on Jon Snow is in the works.
Martin revealed in a write-up on his blog that HBO is working on developing the spin-off, which would star British actor Kit Harrington, who played Jon Snow in Thrones.
News of the supposed spin-off recently surfaced in multiple reports – Martin’s confirmation only affirms the news as legitimate to expectant fans.
“There is a Jon Snow show in development…There are four live-action [Game of Thrones] successor shows in development at HBO. Word got out about three of them some time ago,” Martin wrote.

Kit Harrington, who played the Stark bastard Jon Snow in GOT, reportedly played a huge part in conceptualising the show.
Martin revealed he is seriously involved in the show’s development and would star once again as his iconic character.
“Yes, it was Kit Harrington who brought the idea to us. I cannot tell you the names of the writers/ showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet… but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific,” Martin added.
The author warned that the show being in development does not mean it would ultimately air, but it’s a sign that HBO are looking in that direction.
“Please note: nothing has been green lit yet, and there is no guarantee when or if it will be… on any of these shows,” he wrote.
The wildly popular Game of Thrones television show, based on Martin’s massively popular A Song of Ice and Fire novels, ended with a polarising season in April 2019.
A prequel series, House of the Dragon, starts airing on HBO in August 2022.
