Honesty doesn’t always pay, we live in a cruel world after all. But a taxi driver is reaping the rewards of honesty and it’s good to see.
GhanaCelebrities.Com reported earlier today about a taxi driver who returned Ghc 8,000 he found in his car to a fish monger.
We suggested something be done to reward the driver, since it’s hard to be honest in a country as disturbing to live in as Ghana.
Luckily, a spotlight was shed on his story and he’s being rewarded, with Vice President Dr Bawumia first in line.
The Veep donated Ghc 20,000 to the taxi driver, a fitting reward for his honesty.
According to Ghanaian journalist Mansaseh Azure, a couple of other unnamed donors also added Ghc 2,500 – bringing the donations to Ghc 22,500.
The ecstatic taxi driver, Isaac Ackon, revealed he returned the money because of his faith as a Christian.
He revealed that he found the money in his taxi after the fish seller chartered him for a dropping, as we say in the local parlance.
After dropping her off, he later found a tied cloth in the car smelling of fish.
He opened it and found money inside and closed it back.
Isaac says he never even counted the money.

After church Easter Sunday, he returned the money to the woman who was immensely grateful.
As our earlier report stated, she literally wept as she thought the money was lost forever.
Luckily for Ackon, his honesty has also paid off as the viral video of him returning the money has touched the Veep to make a donation to him.
Ghana is a literal hellhole right now, so its good to see honesty pays off.
Without that, it becomes even harder for people to remain honest when finding what to eat in a day is a big problem!
