Indeed, Wiyaala is on track to justify why she is doing everything right in her effort to achieve global recognition.
However, operating from a country widely regarded as bang average in global music terms, the odds are unfortunately against her.

Many have suggested that if many of our Ghanaian talents were Nigerian or even South African, they would be able to compete with the best in the world.
Then again, Wiyaala has turned the odds around as she looks beyond her Ghanaian audience to showcase her style of music.
As deceptive as the title of this editorial is, Ghana is not that far away from bridging the gap between its music and the Grammy Award.
All it takes to be eligible for a Grammy Award consideration is an album that contains greater than 75 percent playing time.
The playing time must be from newly recorded (within five years of the release date), previously unreleased recordings.
The current eligibility rule is 50 percent.
Last year, Burna Boy won his first Grammy with the album, “Twice as Tall” after failing to win it with “The African Giant.”
Angelique Kidjo won her fourth Grammy because Burna Boy lost that year.
The Benin superstar Angelique Kidjo recently won the 2022 Grammy in the Best Global Music Album category, the Beninese singer’s fifth in her 40-year-career.
Kidjo’s ‘Mother Nature’ album, which earned her the Grammy, is her first album of original music in seven years.
In Wiyaala’s case, she prides herself on the authenticity and originality that carries her music.
Both Burna Boy and Angelique Kidjo have both won Grammy Awards for using originality to create music that cuts across global listenership.
If this isn’t the same route Wiyaala is taking, we’re at a loss for words.
