Ghanaians have enjoyed music from talented musicians who are expected to soar above the borders of Ghana over the years.

Unfortunately, the trend over the years has simply been that men are more hungry than their female counterparts.

In this editorial, we focus on five such female musicians who made a big splash in the music industry only to fade away just as quickly.

Nina Ricchie is a 26-year-old pop singer who draws inspiration from her own life stories. Nina Ricchie was born and raised in Toronto, Canada.

Freda Rhymz

Freda Rhymz, born Freda Baffour Awuah, is a talented and creative rapper and songwriter from Ghana who makes music in three languages (English, Twi, and Pidgin). 

The type of music she creates ranges across Afrobeats, Hip-hop, Hiplife and Highlife. Born and bred in Sunyani, Brong Ahafo Region.

Fantana

Francine Koffie, popularly known as Fantana, is a Ghanaian musician. She was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States of America, where she spent most of her life. 

She was born on July 3, 1997, and hails from Nzema land in the Western Region of Ghana.

Cocotreyy

Cocotreyy decided to relocate from Holland to Ghana to pursue music because she always felt at home when she visited Ghana on vacation.

Her thirst for success, however, appears to have slowed in recent times, as she appears to have settled into her comfort zone.

Okailey Verse

Barbara Naa Okailey Nyarko is also referred to as OV, OV Onthah, or Okailey Verse.

She is a multi-talented young artist who was born on December 4, 1998 and attended Ghana Senior High School, Koforidua in Ghana’s Eastern Region.
