The on-air personality explained what a distribution deal is and remarked that they often come with an advance.
In the case of Black Sheriff, what he signed with the distribution wing of Empire is the licensing and distribution of his songs to various markets globally.
Empire is responsible for distributing the Second Sermon Remix, two other songs, and a 7-track EP that is yet to be released.
Blacko and Empire will share a revenue split of 60-40.
A clause in the contract states that both parties can opt-out of the contract at any time, but must be within a 30-day notice.
Hence, Black Sheriff has not signed his life away.
