Veteran Ghanaian Highlife singer, Kaakyire Kwame Fosu, popularly known as KK Fosu has made a controversial claim that any performer who cannot perform with a live band is not a musician.
The Highlife musician whose genre of music prides itself on the ability to perform with a live band using musical instruments has asserted that the likes of ‘recording artistes’ cannot call themselves musicians.
If you are curious enough, you might need to look up the definition for ‘recording artistes.’
The musician said this during an interview on Happy FM.
“Some musicians are unable to part into the various keys, and this always breaks my heart when I see or hear them sing. Some also do not know the music terms, which is very bad.”
KK Fosu’s observations of the industry conclude that a musician who cannot play and perform with a live band is not talented enough to be called a musician.
“Let’s take it this way if you can’t play live band, forget to be part of the game. If you can’t play nor perform with a live band, I don’t see you as a musician. I would be frank with you,” he said.
He further moved to assert that some current crop of musicians of this generation is unable to impress large crowds with electrifying live band performances like he still does at his age.
