A level 400 student of the University of Ghana is making news after it was revealed she also works as a trotro mate.
Joycelyn Akorfa Atsoribo is studying information technology and psychology at Legon whilst simultaneously working as a mate to make ends meet.
Joycelyn is also a mother of two!
Speaking to Asaase Radio, she revealed that she got pregnant in Junior high after defying her mother’s orders to stop dating a certain guy.
She gave birth to her second whilst in Legon, in Level 200.
She revealed she got pregnant with a guy she was staying with but they had too many issues and she had to leave that relationship too.
“My mother took the baby after, in additon to my first child who is now 17. Now, I am a single mother of two simply because I didn’t listen to my mother’s advice. I have to work as a ‘trotro mate’ just to see myself out of school and take care of my kids too,” she revealed.
According to her, she started working as a mate five months ago after her fruit business was collapsed by her landlord.
She works at the Madina station on her off days – working from 5am to about 10pm.
She makes Ghc 30 daily.
Joycelyn is going through a lot but obviously still persevering to make it against all odds.

“I don’t regret how far I have come because life is a gradual process. You have to take it a step at a time. Along the line, I felt suicidal. I have attempted taking my life about two or three times,” she sadly revealed.
These are the Ghanaians who deserve help – and we hope she gets it from a good samaritan rather than people wasting help on lazy people.
