A woman called Gifty Twumasi had an interest in a parcel of land in front of her property at Achimota Mile 7.

That piece of land was being used as a taxi rank. The taxi drivers involved litigated with a private developer when he made attempts to develop the land because they already knew it is a reserved land.

After failing to stop the private developer, the taxi drivers consulted Captain Smart for assistance.

Captain Smart utilised his influence and access to the airwaves to draw the attention of the Minister of Roads and Highways Mr Kwesi Amoako-Atah, who in turn stopped the project.

According to the police report, Gifty Twumasi and the taxi drivers rewarded Captain Smart with an amount of GH¢10,000.

Captain Smart further led the group to see the Minister unsuccessfully. The group followed up with an amount of GH25,000 for him to give to the Minister which Captain Smart confirmed yet insisted the amount was Gh10,000.

However, the CID said there is evidence against Captain Smart for the offences of defrauding by false pretences and accepting or giving bribes to corrupt a public officer.
