Vic Mensa enjoyed his time in Ghana and decided to take bits and pieces of the fun back to the US. He just may have taken it a little too far.
Things are not looking too good for our Ghanaian brother as he is being held in detention by US Customs for allegedly returning with a stockpile of mushrooms.
Not just regular mushrooms but psilocybin. Psilocybin or magic mushrooms are naturally occurring and are consumed for their hallucinogenic effects. They belong to a group of drugs known as psychedelics, which trigger changes in perception, mood and thought.
They are therefore considered in certain countries and states as a drug.
The rapper was apprehended at Dulles International Airport outside of Washington, D.C., on Saturday after returning from Ghana.
Vic was called aside for a secondary search, according to law enforcement sources, and that’s when authorities discovered what they suspect to be shrooms.
According to public information, the feds are currently analyzing the drug they purportedly discovered to ensure it is what they believe it is.
Vic was arrested and charged with felony narcotics possession.
Mushrooms even though is gaining a lot of urban popularity is still classified as a Schedule I substance under federal law, despite recent efforts in some states to legalize it and decriminalization in some areas.
Vic had been hanging out in Ghana with Chance the Rapper and a slew of other high-ranking figures. President Nana Akufo-Addo even posed for photos with the duo.
