After 222 long days, Nigeria has finally lifted its ban on Twitter.
The ban was forced last year when Twitter deleted President Buhari’s tweet about punishing regional secessionists.
The ban was announced on Twitter, as authorities accused the company of supporting the secessionists.
In a refreshing update, the Nigerian government led by its President Muhammadu Buhari has reversed the ban after Twitter agreed to conditions, including opening a local office in the country.

However, Twitter has not confirmed if it has agreed to the terms. It also admitted that it was pleased and deeply committed to Nigeria.

Nigerian users of Twitter no longer have to risk arrest to tweet. In the past seven months, Nigerians used Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to tweet after telecommunications companies were coerced to block Twitter.
