2021’s declaration as the second year of roads saw the president pledge to prioritize road construction. He further promised to ensure that several roads across the country are tarred.

In an interview with Joy News, the government’s spokesperson on infrastructure, Kojo Frempong said that government has plans underway to completely redesign, re-engineer and reconstruct the motorway.

He further explained that the new look of the motorway would have four lanes whilst the current one will serve as a freeway.

But there’s a catch; this information was shared in October 2021. According to the spokesperson, the project was scheduled to begin in December 2021.

Currently, the state of the motorway does not indicate that the year of roads agenda has affected it.

Sharing the interview on Twitter this morning, Joy News sought to remind the Ghanaian people that another promise had been failed.

This is how Ghanaians reacted.

The government’s high appetite for slogans has yet again failed to produce any meaningful impact on drivers who use the motorway frequently.
