A Ghanaian judge, Justice Dominic Dennis Adjei, has been appointed to a prestigious position on the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Adjei has been named to the Advisory Committee on Nomination of Judges to the ICC.
He’s expected to serve a three-year term which is renewable.
Justice Adjei becomes the first-ever Ghanaian judge to be elected to the body.
The Ghanaian was elected via consensus along with four other judges from Italy, Serbia, Finland and France.
They were elected at the State Parties 7th plenary meeting of the 20th session.
In his new role, he would be expected to work on the recruitment of judges to join the ICC, which operates from The Hague in the Netherlands.
Justice Dominic Dennis Adjei is a Ghanaian Court of Appeals Judge.

He holds a double Master of Laws Degrees in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of London.
He has served recently as the Director of the Judicial Training Institute, responsible for the continuing legal education for judges in Ghana.
