Social media users have launched attacks on the Lighthouse Chapel after the church sued journalist Manasseh Azure for defamation.
Manasseh and the church have been on a warpath ever since he published a story on his website ‘The Fourth Estate’ exposing the church for failing to pay SSNIT contributions for pastors and other abuses.
The stories were sourced from six aggrieved former pastors and the case is now in court being adjudicated.
Lighthouse and their founding Bishop, Dag Heward Mills have been very unhappy with the bad press from Manasseh and decided to take legal action.
According to new reports, the church has taken Manasseh, his co-editor and author of the Lighthouse expose series Edwin Appiah, and the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) to court.
The church claims they were defamed by the articles published by Manasseh, which they described as ‘scathing’ and ‘disparaging’.
The suit is seeking for the court to restrain Manasseh and his cohorts from publishing further articles about the church.
They’re also seeking “an order directed to the defendants to ensure the removal of the defamatory articles…”
Reaction to the news has been swift with social media users slamming the church for being hypocritical.
According to netizens, how can a church be preaching forgiveness all the time and then run to court?
If they practised what they preached, they would also forgive Manasseh and move on!
What would Jesus have done in this scenario? It’s no news that religious leaders and institutions in Ghana are mostly hypocrites enriching themselves.
