The commercial division or the Sekondi High Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of madam Dorcas Affo-Toffey, the mother of singer Fantana.
Fantana’s mother who happens to be the Member of Parliament for Jomoro is being chased by law enforcers for disrespecting the law court.
A warrant was issued for the lawmaker to be arrested after she refused to show up at the hearing of a contempt case against her on Monday morning, December 6, 2021.
The court had earlier ordered the MP for the NDC to produce documents proving her claims that she renounced her Ivory Coast citizenship before contesting as a Member of Parliament in Ghana.
A person with dual Citizenship cannot contest for a public office in Ghana but Fantana’s mother contested and won at the blind side of the law.
The presiding judge, Her Ladyship Sedina Agbemeve, disclosed that Fantana’s mother Dorcas Affo-Toffey failed to produce evidence of the renouncement of her Ivorian citizenship.

Lawyers of Dorcas Affo-Toffey have made known intentions to appeal to a higher court to throw off the orders by the Sekondi High Court judge.
“The court wrongly exercised its discretion in ordering the Appellant [Mrs. Affo-Toffey] to produce her certificate of renunciation of Ivorian Citizenship or any document evidencing renunciation of Ivorian Citizenship to when the Petitioner failed to establish the necessity for the production of the certificate of renunciation of citizenship or document evidencing renunciation of citizenship,” the lawyer was quoted to have said.
