It seems Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan‘s ‘real age’ has finally been exposed, unintentionally.
Asamoah Gyan is officially 35 years of age, about to turn 36 in a couple of days.
Gyan rose to prominence in Ghana at the shockingly young age of 16, and remained a strong force in Ghanaian football until well into his 30’s.
However, there has always been questions about Gyan and whether he actually used his real age for his football career.

Many stories have come out which point that perhaps he massaged his real age as tons of Ghanaian footballers have done throughout the years.
Well, those rumours are going to intensify even more after musician Reggie Zippy appeared to describe Gyan as his senior in Senior High School.
37-year-old Reggie, of ‘Reggie and Bollie’ fame, recently buried his mother, Cecilia, who died in August this year.
Reggie received mad love from many industry titans who appeared at the funeral, including ‘Baby Jet’ Asamoah Gyan.
Gyan was there to show support to his former High School mate and Reggie revealed when they were in school, Gyan was his senior.
He shared a photo of them and wrote: “My senior from Accra Academy and world-class footballer @asamoah_gyan3 came to support me at my Mum’s funeral. Senior, I am very grateful for the love you showed me and my family. My sons finally believe their father knows Asamoah Gyan 😂😂❤️❤️. Thank You,”
His caption immediately raised questions as Reggie himself is 37 whilst Gyan is 35 and about to turn 36.
Yet, the younger Gyan was apparently Reggie’s senior in SHS.
So either Reggie was very slow and his education was delayed, Gyan was a prodigy who went to school way ahead of his peers or perhaps Gyan became ‘younger’ after leaving SHS to become a footballer.
This throws back to a gaffe by Gyan’s father some years back in which he appeared to admit his son Baffour was a year older than his football age shows.
Did Reggie Zippy make the same gaffe here about Asamoah?
